Some health insurance companies offer plans in some areas of Arizona, but not all. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, while offering plans in Maricopa County, offers some plans in Tucson and the rest of the state that they don’t offer to Phoenix (or any Maricopa county) residents. Some other health insurance companies offer plans in only Maricopa County, and not to residents of any other Arizona counties.

And if you just absolutely don’t want an ObamaCare plan, there also are other very good plans available all across Arizona that are a LOT less expensive than the Marketplace plans and don’t have the small provider network limitations that all of the ObamaCare plans have. Some of these plans come from United HealthCare and typically cost about one-third of what an ObamaCare plan would cost you. However, these United HealthCare plans are medically underwritten, which means they could refuse to give you policy based upon your pre-existing health conditions. They can legally do that because these are not Marketplace plans and they call these plans ’short term’ plans. But, they really are not short term plans in the true sense of the term — you can get a plan from United HealthCare that can last three years. These United HealthCare plans are an excellent low-cost option for people with children attending out-of-Arizona colleges, too. We will include the non-ObamaCare plan rates in the email we send you.
