The United HealthCare Golden Rule plans available here in Arizona are priced very competitively, and they have several different plan options to choose from. They have HSA-compatible plans and copay plans that are as good as any available from any insurance company offering plans in Arizona.

Their HSA-compatible plan covers 100% of covered expenses after the deductible, including doctor office visit fees, prescription drugs, diagnostic testing, and hospitalization and surgery. This means that, once you meet your deductible, United HealthCare pay for just about every medical bill you'll receive for the remainder of the policy year. For preventative care coverage, like an annual routine exam, you pay a $35 co-payment for your office visit, they cover the rest, including lab work, child immunizations, mammograms, pap smears, and PSA screenings.

They have many different deductibles to choose from, and if you apply for a family policy, you don't have to be concerned with having to meet more than one deductible -- there is only one deductible that has to be met on family plans.

United HealthCare's copay plan is called Copay Select. It gives you, from the very first day your policy goes into effect, generic prescriptions for $15 and you pay $30 for most brand name drugs. Doctor visits cost you $35 (or optionally $25). This plan pays 100% after your deductible -- you don't have an 80/20 stipulation on this plan. Not having to pay 20% after you met your deductible can save you about $3000 per year if you end up in the hospital. United HealthCare optionally offers this policy in an 80/20 version, which will cost you a few dollars less in premium each month.
