The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) mandated that certain preventive care services be covered at 100%. Below is a list of most of the preventive health services that are included.
As long as your medical visit is at a network provider for preventive reasons, and not due to a symptom you are experiencing, your insurance company must cover these services at no cost to you. There is no copay, deductible, or coinsurance to meet.
- Blood Pressure Screening
- Cholesterol Screening
- Colorectal Cancer Screening (Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy)
- Depression Screening
- Diabetes Screening
- Mammography
- Obesity Screening
- Breastfeeding Support (coverage begins August 1, 2012)
- Contraception / Birth Control (coverage begins August 1, 2012)
- Cervical Cancer Screening
- Osteoporosis Screening
- Well-Woman visits
- Immunizations

Immunizations covered include Hepatitis A & B, MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella), Tetanus, Diphteria, Meningococcal, Pneumococcal, and Influenza. For more on immunizations, click here.
