Changes to Aetna Small Business Group Health Plans

Aetna Aetna has recently announced changes to their small business health insurance plans in Arizona.

Many of the changes they are making are necessary in order to comply with health care reform. They are also trying to manage rising health care expenses, reduce administrative costs, and simplify their plans.

Effective October 1, 2010, the following changes will go into effect for Aetna small business health plans:

* No more lifetime maximums. All plans will have an unlimited lifetime maximum. (required by health care reform)

* Dependents can stay on your plan up to age 26. (required by health care reform)

* No pre-existing condition exclusions for children under the age of 19. (required by health care reform)

* Preventive care is covered at 100% with no co-pay. (required by health care reform)

* They are discontinuing the following plans:
- All QPOS plans
- CPOS $250 Deductible 80% plan
- CPOS $500 Deductible 90% plan
- CPOS $1500 Deductible 100% plan
- CPOS $5000 Deductible 100% plan
- PPO $250 Deductible 80% plan
- PPO $500 Deductible 90% plan
- PPO Value Limited $750 Deductible plan

* They are adding the following plans:
- PPO $2500 Deductible 80% plan
- PPO $5000 Deductible 80% plan
